^ this is interesting for me because my view of tech and tech regulation relies a lot on the “but their provide universal public service” argument. Now that the companies engage in more and more ad hoc censorship and deplatforming, I personally have to rethink a lot of my takes on their place within the society.
My favorite example of this is Cloudflare CEO kicking out a neo-nazi site from their platform writing : “I woke up this morning in a bad mood and decided to kick them off the internet”, but deciding to keep offering services to (p.6) ISIS forums.
